A classic look that should be part of every lingerie drawer back-seams evoke a time when stockings and pantyhose were more of a feminine staple than fashion statement — and leg worship was in it's golden-age.
Heel and back-seam hosiery features folded over, reinforced toes, footbeds and heels that meet at seams just above the ankle. There are several variations on the heel style, but the two most common are the Cuban (which squares off at the seam) and the French or "point heel" (which tapers into the seam). Both the Cuban and French heel are available in contrasting and tone-on-tone styles in a variety of colors. Contrasting seams that mimic the look of vintage "fully fashioned" knit stockings visually lengthen the leg and invite the eye to travel up. Subtler combinations are more appropriate for casual wear.
Expert tip: when seamed stockings are paired with garter belts, the back-seam should be lined up with, and visually carried through by, the garter, traveling up onto the curve of the derrière.
